Fresh, rootsy, and groovy are words that hit the nail right on the head when describing the Maryland based soul rockers Pressing Strings. Stemming from a songwriting collaboration between members Joshua Kachura and Jordan Sokel in the summer of 2006, the band formed unexpectedly and has continued to evolve and develop a sound that is truly authentic. You could call it folk. You could call it blues. You would not be wrong if you said reggae, country, soul, hip hop, or even plain old rock and roll.

Pressing Strings got they’re start when members Josh Kachura and Jordan Sokel met while attending Salisbury University on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Stemming from late night jams with a room full of friends, the two began to collaborate and eventually landed some gigs at the local watering holes playing a calculated assortment of eclectic covers and a handful of originals. With the release of their third full length album in January 2012, it’s obvious the band has learned a few things, especially how to create an authentic blend of americana, reggae, jazz, and rock music.
